Mejia - Vallecillo - Sabillon
Hi.
I'm researching my mother's side of the family, but I keep hitting dead ends.
My grandmother was Pastora Marie Vallecillo, born March 30, 1911 in San Luis, Honduras. She had two sisters Francesca (now Frances) and Julia. According to the birth certificate, my grandmother's mother was "senora" Dominga Vallecillo. Dominga's parents were Cipriana Mejia (the mother) and Eduviges Vallecillo (the father).
Alas, I do not speak Spanish very well, but from what I understand I think that Dominga's husband is a Bonifacio Sabillon. But, I might be wrong.
My mother has always told me that Dominga died in childbirth, and the father who was unable to care for the three children by himself, placed the children up for adoption.
Helen Marlowe and Charles Van Tuyle adopted Pastora. They had a son and a daughter named Myrtle Van Tuyle.
Pastora was married to Allen Cooper, a US Navy Captain. Pastora, herself, was a surgical RN. They divorced and Allen remarried and had three children: John, James, and Judith Cooper.
Frances was adopted by a Dr. Lynch. And, Julia was adopted by a ? Bodden. Julia married and had children. Julia died, but I'm not sure how. And, that is as much as I know. My Aunt Frances is still searching for Julia's children.
Allen Cooper's father was Spurgeon Cooper. My mother has always told me that Spurgeon's wife was Druscilla Grayson, but my mother's birth certificate names her as Drusila Woods.
If you know anything about any of the names mentioned, or you know of any siblings or relatives that are related to these people, please let me know. Or, if you know how I could get more information, please tell me. This is all the information I have, and I would love to know more.
Thanks!
