The only reference I have to a middle initial was a single signature on a land deed from the 1890's which had the letter "J." However, Thomas Melton of Taney County, Missouri (census 1870, 1880 & 1900), formerly of Van Buran County, Arkansas (census 1860) never lived in Oklahoma to my knowledge. He died in February 1905 and is buried in Taney County, Missouri next to his first wife, Anna Goodnight Melton, in the Meadows Cemetery.
