They were in Douglas County, Missouri in 1866 but in Christian County by 1870. Tom and Kate are buried in Sparta Cemetery. Their children were: Nancy Ann (Melton) Cates 1857 - 1936, Bertha Melton born 1861 last found on 1880 census, Parolee Imogene (Melton) Isbell 1863 - 1920, James B. After Kate's death, Tom married Mary Jane (Pendleton) Melton 10 Jan 1828 - 31 Dec 1906, widow of Tom's oldest brother, James Mattison Melton 1 Jan 1821 - 1 Dec 1872.
