Mendelsohn's from Brooklyn
My ggrand father became Samuel Mendelsohn when he came through Ellis Island ( the orginal family name was supposedly Seanac). His wife is listed as Freida Green. My grandfather was Henry Mendelsohn, born Jan.2,1890 in Russia and he had an older brother named Max as well as several sisters, but I do not have their names. The family remained in Brooklyn. My grandfather had his own business for a time, Florence Flower and Feather Company at 693 Broadway. Henry married Sadie Schantz and they lived on Rubling Street.Sadie and Henry had four children; Gertrude( born 1915),Florence(born 1917, Murry and David, who were twins, born Nov.27,1920. Sadie died in 1948-49 and Henry married Fay ( I don't know her last name). Henry died in 1979. Max died of a heart attack around 1932. I believe Max's wife was named Rose and they had two sons; Murray and one son who changed his last name to Delson. On of the sons worked for a whiskey company, possibly Segrams, and moved to Texas. If any of this sounds familar to anyone I would love to share information! Lisa
