IF the family tree is correct, then the probability is that the family left Spain for Holland via Portugal. The first person on the tree was resident in Amsterdam but 'of Seville'.

Mendoza is a common name is Spain, so it is likely there are several Mendoza families. I suppose a single family could have split - some going east and some west.

Our version family tree was researched for someone else a generation ago and is of questionable quality.
