I am researching the Jewish Mendoza family of London. We have gaps in our information in the 17th Century. A Mendoza family with a number of familiar names seems to have been living in Michoacan at that time. IF this is the same family, then it is possible that some members remained in Mexico when others returned to Europe.
Have any of the Michoacan Mendozas ever heard stories that their family was of Jewish origin, or maybe there are some family customs that might hint at Jewish origins?
The probability is that the match in family names is coincidental, but I thought to ask.
