Greetings from Logan County, KY. Have some info to share and something to untangle as well. Breathitt Cemetery located just north of Russellville, KY is where the above named is buried. Her gravestone is marked as follows - Elanor W. Whitsett, consort of William Whitsett, Sr., 3 Dec 1746, 13 Sep 1818. She died at the home of her daugher, Mrs. George Blakey, "Rural Choice" located three miles west of Russellville on HWY 68 (Hopkinsville Road) Her hus. William Whitsett, Sr. died while on a visit to his son, Rev. James Whitsett, in Nashville and is buried there.

Elizabeth Dawson Whitsett, their daughter, married William Breathitt March 20, 1782 in Henry County, VA. Both are buried at the Breathitt Cemetery. Their son, John, was the tenth governor of KY (1832-1834)interred at Breathitt cemetery.

Back to Eleanor Menees - an early local historian wrote that Eleanor was the dau of James Menees and Ellen Cardwell Breathitt. Ellen Cardwell was the widow of Ranney Breathitt. Also, she reports that Elizabeth Whitsett and hus. William Breathitt were second cousins. This is confusing. Help! Wm Breathitt had a brother named Ranney. They were from Maryland and the surname was spelled "Breathed". Would also like to have a listing of children of James Menees and Ellen Cardwell Breathitt. PS Oleen...sorry I couldn't make it to the family reunion and so glad you have opened the Menees forum.
