Mercado; ca. 1800 Mex ->New Orleans->CA

I am searching Sebastian del Mercado, son of Rita Topete, father of Felix and Marie. Sebastian married Juana Marie Camacho of New Orleans, and their children were born there. Juana was a daughter of the Canary Islander immigration to that colony organized by the Spanish crown. Sebastian might have been born in Guadelahara. His son Felix, my ggrandfather, departing from Mexico, was in the '49 gold rush to San Francisco and is listed as a California Pioneer.

This family may be well known in Mexico because Sebastians brother was, I think, Jose Maria Mercado, who died in 1811 fighting Spanish Gen. Cruz and the Queens Grenadiers on their way to take the port of San Blas. Mercado's cannon was recovered and taken to the military museum in about 1896.

Felix may have died in Mexico City, in 1902. As well, his son Phillip, a language instuctor, may have died in Mexico city.

Any leads or information will be appreciated!
