This is verbal family history. My grandfather William Franklin Duncan was the son of Frank duncan and Mildred Angeline Merck.(Hall County,Georgia) He told us that Angline's grandfather John Merck,at the age of 16, came from Germany and settle in Hall County, Georgia. After building a house on Cleveland road, Gainesville, Georgia. He went back to Germany and married Margaret Waite, daughter of Morrison Waite. The Waite's lived in Holland. John and Margaret could speak very little English when they started their new life in America. They were Lutheran in religion. They had eight children, George, Susannah, William, Henry, James L., Mary and Margaret.
