Jim Merideth 2/19/08
Darrell,
You will see that I replied to Jim Meredith, so there's no need to repeat it all here, as you can read that reply. However, I realized that it was you, not Jim, who stated that JJM was your g-g grandfather, so we are definitely 3rd cousins, but not certain about him.
A couple of things I forgot to say: My grandmother Dora said JJM fought on the Confederate side in the Civil War.I have no documentation for that.I know only one other line of Merideths descended from JJM & Phoeba: the children, etc. of the late Arlene Merideth (Fay) (Andrews) of Peoria, IL.Arlene's father, whom I never met, was the son of one of Maria's brothers, but I'm not certain which one. I know it was not John.
If you have Edwin Hobart's 1912 genealogy you are fortunate, as I'm sure there are not many copies extant.I have only a photocopy of some of the pages. My grandmother Dora had a bound copy, but it was lost by my uncle (her son).
Again, I would be most happy to hear from you by email.
