I'm looking for a Catherine Lewis who married a Merrell/Merrells. A court document in Monongalia, 1814, calls her Catherine Merrells--but the constable who served the notice of re-survey was John Bosnet/Basnett! I think the Lewises lived in PA, but they owned land in Monongalia on Scotts Mill Run from 1784 unitl at least 1816.

Catherine Lewis was born ca. 1760 -- perhaps a bit before since she was baptized 1768--and Baptists waited until the "age of reason." About 1782, her father and brother--both named Philip--moved to Westmoreland. They apparently lived (tax records) in Washington (Greene) and Fayette counties--but owned land in Monongalia as late as 1816. A Catherine Lewis joined the Mt. Moriah Baptist church in Fayette in 1785-letter from the Vincent Church in Chester.

In addition to her brother Philip Lewis, Catherine had sister Rachel (married a Williams) and brother Enoch.
