Anyone know of a Merrell-Fountain connection?

I am wondering if anyone knows of a connection between the Merrells and Fountains, (particularly of of Staten Island, particularly in the mid-1700s if possible). I tentatively propose the existence of one based on the July 3 1800 marriage of a Hester or Easter (known as "Hetty") Merril or Merrell (born August 28 1778) to a Josiah Wolcott Thompson (born about 1776); they had a son named George Fountain Thompson. Given that there are (almost provably) no connections to the Fountain name in the maternal lines of earlier Thompson generations, I suspect that this Hester Merrell was born to a marriage of a Merrell to a Fountain, but I have not yet been able to find any such marriage. Anyone have any knowledge of such as Fountain-Merrell connection? ANY information would be greatly appreciated.
