DesChamplain,Samuel 1600's founded Lake Champlain in N.Y.and Vt.He also held office in Montreal,Que.Canada.One biblio.of him stated that he was married,but never had children.I'm curious if the DesChamplains of Montreal are directly related to him. I was told I was a descendent of his but can find no info.My great-grandmother came from Valley Field Canada, just outside Montreal. Her name was Adele DesChamplain.She married a Frank Vaillancourt and lived in the Fairview section of S.Hadley,Massachusetts in the early 1900's.She had a large family,so I hope I can get some info.
