Gloria,
What area are we to look in? I am not in England but do have access to the census records by way of my subscription to Ancestry.com.

There was an Alfred Messenger that was a witness to my great great grandparents marriage in South Cerney, Gloucester in 1847. Could be a cousin or an Uncle to my Thomas Curtis - as we believe Thomas' mother was Mary Messenger.
