I am continuing my exploration of records to find origins of Metcalfes who came to America and posting my research.I have not found an American connection to this line as yet.
We can begin by using the excellent information provided by Alice Gedge here:

--Brother Francis Metcalfe
--Niece Barbara Dallison
--Mr. Nicholas Janson of Kelham in the County of Nott, Clerk and Jane his wife joint Executors

The will of Nicholas Janson, Clerk of Kelham, Nottinghamshire, was proven 27 Mar 1658, Record: PROB 11/271, National Archives of the UK.Note that his will was proved on the SAME DAY as his brother in law. That explains why Jane Janson was the only executor to prove Matthew's will.Brother Adrian's will was proven on 29 Mar 1658.It is interesting that all three were proven at the same time.Did they die in a battle?
From Matthew's will we find he had no children and that his sister Jane married Nicholas Jansen.Their marriage record:
1637 Apl 29 Mr. Nicolas Jansen of Kellam, Co. Notts, Clerk & Jane Metcalfe of Louth Park.
(Lincolnshire Parish Registers & Monumental Inscriptions by George Edward Cohayne)
We can ascertain from piecing together family records that Matthew's sister Lucy married George Dallison and they were the parents of Barbara Dalison who was mentioned in Matthew's will.

Is George Dallison related to the Martin Dallison who lived in Stepney and Barbados and who was a merchant to Virginia in the 1670's?George Dallison had a son William born in 1634.There was a William Dallison who traded in Virginia in 1662, but it is unknown if he is related to the George Dallison who married into the Metcalfe family.

Matthew's brothers Adrian and Francis were definitely Royalists:
“Several apothecaries proved themselves staunch Royalists by maintaining their attendance on the kind through the Civil War, none more than the Metcalfes of Lincolnshire.Adrian Metcalfe obtained the office of apothecary in-ordinary through a reversion procured by his father, but had to wait for Rumler to vacate the post before he could claim it.In the meantime, Metcalfe provided the sweet waters and perfumes for the royal household and acted as Charles’ apothecary in Scotland in 1641; he was admitted as a free burgess of Aberdeen during that time.Munk states that Adrian Metcalfe received an M.D. in 1645 while at Oxford, but Leslie Matthews attributes the diploma to the Archbishop of London’s so-called “Lambeth degree.”Like others who had supported the king, Metcalfe was fined one-tenth of his wealth by the Committee for Compounding, in his case nearly L34.Francis Metcalfe, Adrian’s elder brother, had to pay over L266, because of another brother’s Royalist army service. On top of that, Adrian Metcalfe lost a wagon-load of medicines at Naseby and his offices in Whitehall were plundered.” (The Royal Doctors, 1485-1714, by Elizabeth Lane Furdell, pp. 125-126)
Adrian Metcalfe, Doctor of Phisicke named as brother in the will of Thomas Metcalfe of Louth Park, Lincolnshire, proved 5 June 1653, 11/226.They had other brothers William Metcalfe and Mathew Metcalfe and sister Jonson/Jenson.
This is their brother Thomas:
Will of Thomas Metcalfe of Louth Park, Lincolnshire, dated 18 July 1652, proven 5 Jun 1653.National Archives of the UK, Perogative Court of Canterbury, PROB 11/226.
--Brother William Metcalfe, clerke
--Brother Adrian Metcalfe, doctor of physick
--Brother Matthew Metcalfe
--Sister Jonson [Janson/Jansen]
--Brothers William and Adrian joint Executors
Wit: William Wadsley, William Metcalfe, Thomas Broxohue/Bronohue, and the mark of Richard Witherby.
I have not yet located the wills of brothers William Metcalfe, Clerk or Francis Metcalfe, who is said to have died in Ireland in 1691.
Is this a record of Francis Metcalfe and his brothers and showing that his father was murdered?
1661.Aug. 117. Petition of Francis Metcalfe, Apothecary in Ordinary to the Household, to the King, that his suspension from office, entered in the Signet Office, may be withdrawn, he being again sworn in, after a full hearing of Mr. Solby's claim. Was appointed in 1639: has 2,000l. arrears due, but was plundered in the wars, in which his father, Sir Fras. Metcalfe was murdered, and his five brothers all died.
