Hi cousin!

>Am looking for parents of Thomas Metters, father of Mary Ann [...] Thomas was married to Grace Exworthy. They were from Jacobstow in Cornwall.

Thomas Matters and Grace (I didn't know her last name was Exworthy till today--thanks!) were my great-great-great-great-great grandparents.

I have found Thomas listed as Thomas METTER, Jr., christened 5 Jan 1794 at Ashwater, Devon; he married (abt 1830) Grace _____, born abt 1798 at Bratton Clovelly, Devon.

Thomas Metter, Jr.'s parents were Thomas METTER, Sr. (b. abt 1765) and Susanna LIGHT (or PRIDHAM; she was a "Susanna" christened at Tetcott, Devon, in 1769; there are two such Susannas, a Light and a Pridham.)

My ancestry runs from Thomas Metter, Jr., to his son William MATTERS, born or christened 14 Sep 1831 (one source says Jan 1832) at St. Giles-on-the-Heath, Devonshire, England.

William married Susan Stacy SLEEP abt 1858, probably at Launceston, Cornwall, and came to Waukesha Co., WI that year, where all his children were born.

Let's get in touch--I'm eager to know where you got the Exworthy name for Grace!

Cheers,

R. Ben Madison
