Derek,

I thought I'd reply even though the thread is years old. I'm Leonard Metters, probably your third cousin. I've exchanged a few letters with your mother, Vera.

I'm the grandson of Leonard Metters, who came to Wilkes Barre, PA from Haverigg/Millom shortly after WW1.

I've recently become very interested in the geneology of our name since it is rare, and I ran into another Metters at my new job. His name is Charles Metters, and his family has lived in Texas for the last three generations. He doesn't go any farther back than that. The twist is that he is a Black man. The man who heads up Metters Industries (Samuel) in Virginia is also Black. I thought I'd do some research and try to see if there's some distant connection.

I'm meeting Charles' 92 year old Uncle Chester tomorrow, if I find anything interesting I'll post it here.

Take care,

Leonard Metters
