I noticed you have "Matters" of Ashwater, Devon and it may well be that your family are connected to the family of John & Ann Metters/Mitters. John was born in Ashwater on 29 Nov 1832 and was the son of John Mitters & Martha Littlejohns of Broadwood, Devon (born about 1801 & 1790 respectively). John (born Ashwater) married Ann who was born 1831 in Petrockstowe and they had a son Charles, born Petrockstowe in 1863. If you have come across this family I'd love to learn more about them.

Thanks,
Andrea Fitzgerald.
