Thanks! By the way, there are a lot of Sleep obits in the two volumes I mentioned in my E-mail to you (compiled by Jean Joliffe).

As I understand it, Jacobstow is on the border almost, where Devon and Cornwall meet and I was told that the border has changed a number of times and that may account for some discrepancies. According to the LDS, the 1841 census showing John and Mary Ann was that of Jacobstow, Cornwall. Doesn't mean its correct. I've found a lot of error in LDS records. As a matter of fact, there is a Cornwall Web Page that I've visited several times and it claims Jacobstow.

You are right on about Plymouth though -- I just looked it up and found it in Devonshire. Couldn't find Jacobstow but will certainly watch for it. I like to be geographically correct, especially after just reviewing a book on Pacific Rim botany and being extremely critical of the writer who moved 38 Thailand cities to India; thought Thailand and Siam were two different countries and that a couple of small islands, just off the west coast of New Guinea were the same as a city about midway up the Malayan Peninsula. He obviously thought the island of Truk was a Chevie pickup because he consistantly spelled it Truck!.. So my face is red. I hope that careless author doesn't see this!

Jean Joliffe will be very interested in your ship data as she told me that the Canadians didn't keep passenger records. She said, however, that there was always a possibility of one of our family members having given the ship and dates in some other document. However, she didn't know of any for this family.

Thanks again.
