Hope you are still looking. I just found a Martin METZ while looking for someone else. Trying to trace parents of a Tapley G. METZ, father of a William METZ>

1870 West Virginia census, Lincoln Township, Marion county
dwelling #
160 METZ, Tapley G. age 41 Blacksmith born Virginia
Hannah 46
161 METZ, William 77 farmer
Catherine 68 born Pennsylvania

1860 Virginia census, Tyler county, Lone Tree
396 METZ, William age 65 born Virginia
Catherine 58
Martin 20
William 18

The name Martin like Tapley is not usually found as a first name. William's, Mathias', Jacob's and Leonard's seem to be more common.
If this helps ...great...if you already had it ...another contact.
thank you, Deborah
