Ardith W. (Borton) Metz Obit
WALDRON Ardith Metz, 93, of Munson Highway, Waldron, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at her home.
She was born on October 23, 1914, in Fayette, Ohio, the daughter of Leroy and Lottie (Lyon) Borton. On Nov. 21, 1942, in Angola, Ind., she married Claude E. Metz. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1968.
Ardith was a graduate of Morenci High School and recieved her teaching degree from Sieana Heights College in Adrian. She taught in several one-room schools in Lenawee County. She was a past member of the Morenci First Baptist Church and the Munson United Brethren Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy (Harold) Brackman of Fayette, Ohio, and Susan (Richard) Smith of Fort Payne, Ala.; one son, Douglas (Wanda) Metz of Clayton; daughter-in-law, Carol Metz of Kennard, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Lewis of Morenci.
Besides her husband, Claude, Ardith was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Claude Jr.; a granddaughter, Shannen Smith; two sisters, Blanche Salsbury and Gartha Lee; and two brothers, Max and Ward Borton.
Funeral service will be on Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with the Rev. Jerry Lacey officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Visitation will be on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Lenawee.
