I'm needing help with my husband's family genealogy, and thought maybe you might be able to help me.
My husband's gggg grandfather, Henry Metts, was born ca.1765 in Pennsylvania, was married to Mary[last name unknown],b.ca.1788,also in Pennsylvania, and emmigrated to Jefferson County,Missouri in the early 1800's.He had five children, and he was one of the first white families that settled in this part of Missouri. His name is mentioned several times in "Goodspeed".
What I'm needing to find out about is Henry's past ancestry.
I have a passenger list that contains a "Henry Metz",of the ship"Neptune",that arrived in the U.S. in 1755 from Rotterdam"
The timeline fits, but I don't have any documentation that verifies that this is my husband's ancestor.
I'd like to continue researching the "Metts/Metz" family, but do not know how to go about getting these types of records.I know you can get birth certificates, but they don't go back that far,and I'm not sure of religious records for him,as I do not know of his religious background.
Any help you could give me would really be appreciated. You can reach me at anytime at : firstname.lastname@example.org,or through this forum.Thank-you so much for your time and your help........Beth Metts
