Thanks you for your response. We have the information you provided. We are looking for additional clarity from Lamech or Lamach or Lem backwards. A close examination of one of the hand written records suggest the Lamach or the other spellings is an aboration. Under a magnafying [sic] tool, the name appears to be Samuel. The name Leonard also appears quite often within the family as does Samuel.

We are trying to positively determine just how close the Metz and Hawkins families are connected. Leonard Metz and Sarah Fletcher were the parents of Lucinda Metz who married Jeremiah Hawkins. A gggrandson of Jeremiah and Lucinda, Robert Brough Hawkins married Ruth Ellen Frazier Cannon, and a ggrand son of Lamech and Martha, Walter Ellis Metz, married Elsie Olive Frazier. Ruth and Elsie are sisters

Samuel Ellis Metz, married Louise [Lovie] Margaret Rice. The Lovie appears to be an aboration again, and taken from records that was not written clearly.

There are two Leonard Metz's, one born in 1825 and another about 1840. Both are from the same close nit around Metz, Marion Co WV.

Who are the parents of these Leonard Metz's, is the outstanding question. That so far, cannot be determined.

The Henry Leonard family is also deeply connected with in the two families, but mainly the Hawkins group. Osa [Ocie] Myrtle Leonard married William Leonard Hawkins and Andrew Ellsworth Delaney married Anna Nora Leonard, sister of Osa. Andrew was married to Mariah Frances Hawkins.

The big question still remains, how are these two Leonard's connected. I believe they are. but cannot find the answer. Again, thanks
