Mich death records if I don't know date or county

Can anyone point me to some reasonably good online places to try to find my grandparents' death records, when I don't know which county they died in or even what year? I have googled on michigan death records, and I've browsed the lists of sites that pop up, but without knowing the county I'd like to avoid having to search every county I can think of one at a time.

All I know is that Charles Albert Thomas died probably in MI sometime shortly before I was born, which was Feb 1944. My grandmother Sarah Isabel Smith Thomas died while I was still an infant, and from what my mom told me I think she would have been alive for about a year after I was born, so I'm guessing 1944-1946. They all lived near Ann Arbor, so I'm guessing at the time of my birth they may still have been around Washtenaw County, but I can't find any online sources of that county for the time period I'm interested in.

Any tips or suggestions?

I'll be happy to do my own digging, if someone can point me in the right direction. So I'm not posting this at the records lookup board at the moment, but I could.

Thx.
