LaPORTE -- Orell M. Fortner, 87, LaPorte, died at 5:38 a.m. Wednesday (April 28, 2004) at her home.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. Noel C. Olse officiating. Burial will be in North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma, Mich., with a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. EST Saturday.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 17, 1917, in Adamsville, Tenn., to Ivey and Ruby (Mayfield) Brasfield. On July 8, 1933, in Tennessee, she married William T. Fortner, who died Aug. 7, 1982.
Survivors include four daughters, Patricia (Fortner) Puskac, LaPorte, Ruby (Del) Walker, Tennessee, Sarah (Fran) Haukom, Minnesota, and Charlotte Wilson, Illinois; one son, Jimmie Fortner, Illinois; 30 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding Mrs. Fortner in death were one son, Jerell Fortner; three sisters; and one brother.
Mrs. Fortner was a LaPorte resident for four years, coming from Benton Harbor, Mich. She was a homemaker.
Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of LaPorte County, P.O. Box 250, LaPorte, IN 46350.
