Here's what I know so far of my Great great grandfather. Theodore W. Michaelis born in Schlieben Sachsen Germany on 24 July 1825. He came to Texas in the 1850's. Fought as confederate in civilwar, lost eye at seige of Vicksburg. He was also a gunsmith and rumor has it that he killed 5 union soldiers one afternoon when his gunshop was raided. He married Hedwig Groos 14 Mar 1859, in Fayete County, TX. They had 6 children Friedricke Caroline b.1860, Max Gustav b.1864, Paul G. b.1861, Carl J. b.1866. Natalie b.1873, Edward- birthdate unknown.
Theodore had an older brother, Karl, who came to America with him.
Anyone have further information they would like to share?
