My ggrandfather was William Michaels(Wilhelm Michaelis)arrived in USA in 1880. Born 1871 but have no idea what part of Germany the family came from. They were Lutheran and his sisters Emma, Ida, Minnie(Wilhelmina) settled in Michigan,first in Springswell then in Detroit. There are still some family in the area. I have passenger list indicating that the family (without William who was older than the siblings) traveled to Germany in the 1890s. If anyone has information on the family of Frederick and Anna(nee Foreman)Michaelis in Michigan and where the ancestral birth place is I would appreciate it.
