Sandra, There are quite a number of Michies in the Aberdeenshire area of Scotland. Although now resident in England, I was brought up in Scotland and my father, Alexander Michie, was raised in Pitlochry, Perthshire. He was part of a large family and a number of the brothers emigrated during the depression in the early part of the 1900s when there were few jobs in Scotland and prospects were bleak. His brother John emigrated to the US, George to Australia, Peter to New Zealand, Walter to Kenya and Duncan to Canada. There are now only a few of the family left in Perthshire . We are part of the Forbes clan and I will be wearing my full highland outfit to a wedding next month - the kilt is increasingly in fashion not only in Scotland but here in England not only at weddings but all formal occasions.
