I am a direct descendant of William Michie, born 1787 in Gamrie parish, Banffshire. He moved across the county border to King Edward parish, Aberdeenshire, where he married Margaret Cassie and settled down. His son, also William Michie was born in 1824, then his son, another William Michie, was born in 1859. His son, yet another William Michie, was born in 1889, but disappeared from the records between the 1901 census and the 1911 census. His younger brother James Michie was my grandfather and I recall that he said that his brother William emigrated. His sister Robina emigrated to Canada.
I looked at the parish records to investigate the records before John Michie born in 1761. Although incomplete, they show several Michie families living in the Gamrie and Aberdour areas in the early 1700s/late 1600s, but I could not resolve to which of the John, William, George, Andrew or Alexander Michies he could be related
