The first Michie I know of to come to Virgi ia was "Scotch John" Michie (c1685-1777) who
was deported from Liverpool in 1716 in The
Elizabeth & Anne. He first settled in Hannover Co., VA, in the portion later carved
off to create Louisa Co. He became a large
landowner and in his later years moved to
Albemarle Co., VA, where he died. His friend
James Watson was deported with him, and in
later years two of Scotch John's son married
two of James Watson's daughters, and I am a
descendant of all four of them!!
