I'm trying to learn more about Henry Micou, an ensign in the Revolutionary War. I descend from his daughter Catherine E. Micou who married William Frank in King George County, VA, on July 26, 1808.
My (admittedly limited) research uncovered the following from the book "Virginia Soldiers of 1776" (printed verbatim):
Henry McCou (Micou), Ensign.
Exec. Dept. The heirs of Henry McCou are allowed L. B. for his services as a Sergeant in the Contl. line. John Floyd, Gov.
Spotslyvania Co., VA. 14 June, 1832. John Roy and Rebecca Lomax made oath as to acquaintenance with Henry Micou or McCou; that the within named heirs are the only heirs except an only daughter Beatrix Micou. Teste, Robert T. Thorn, J. of P.
John Roy and John Layton deposed that they were acquainted with Henry Micou, late of King George Co., who was an Ensign in the Rev. War. That he left eight children; that Eleanor married her cousin Richard Micou; Beatrice married Samuel Reynolds; Catherine married William Frank, and that both are dead; that Catherine left three children: William, Ann M., and Jane E. Frank, who married Richard A. Redman; that Elizabeth B. Micou and Beatrice who married Samuel Reynolds are the same person. Teste, John Wallace, J. of P. 27 Dec 1832. Teste, J.J. Chew, clerk.
Caroline Co. Court, 29 Nov 1832. Roy Micou, son and one of the heirs of Henry Micou appointed John Metcalf Atty. Witnesses, P. Thornton, P. Alexander. Philip Alexander and Presley Thornton made oath that Mungo Roy Micou signed the above power of attorney before Hugh M. Patton, J. of P.
Henry Micou of King George Co. died intestate. Teste, J.J. Stuart, clerk. The name "Elizabeth Runus" should be Elizabeth B. Reynolds, and is name of Elizabeth Beatrix Micou who married a Mr. Reynolds.
Rec'd warrant 7289, issued 13 Dec. 1832 to Mungo Micou, Richard Micou, Eleanor Micou, Elizabeth Runus (Reynolds) formerly Elizabeth Micou, Catherine E., Ann Maria, John H. and Beatrice Micou, the heirs of Henry Micou, an ensign in the Rev. war.
Note. The Clerks were mistaken in the name of Elizabeth Beatrice (Micou) Reynolds, and made two persons of her.
Can anyone tell more about this man, namely, who were his parents and siblings? Any clues would be greatly appreciated!
