Frederick Beneke born Jan. 12, 1827 -- married Julia Missal (Miesel) who was born Nov. 17, 1822. These people were devout Christians of the Evangelical Faith. Frederick was a blacksmith by trade. They immigraged to the US in 1867 on a sail boat into New York. The voyage took six weeks, then they went by train as far as train connections were available. From train, they took a boat up the Mississipi River, then stage coarch or oxen to Rochester, MN. They brought a daughter, Christina, age 12 and son Berthold, age 9. Two boys were left behind in Germany, both died and were buired there. In 1870, the family left Rochester, MN by oxen to settle on an excellent farm land near Waltham, MN. Frederick had several brothers who also came to America at this time and settled near Rochester and the Waltham area. Any information on Julia or her family would be appreciated. Thanks Dale
