Hello Gayle:

Hope you won't mind giving me your opinion on this. I'm still trying to determine if my gg-uncle Geo. W Shelton was the husband of Nannie Mims as some have claimed.

I was confused by the census of 1880 which shows a Nannie Mims in 1880 b KY abt 1862, living with brother, Thomas in
Kansas City MO. She is shown as single, yet those who are descendants show George and Nannie having children by 1875.

As I pieced together the two John W Mims each with wife, Mary. John W Mims, Sr and Mary James, their son, John W Mims Jr and wife Cordelia C "Mary" Dobbins, I see many of the John Jr's children have same names as his siblings, thus there is a Nancy "Nannie" Mims, sibling to John W. Mims Jr born 1843 KY. My Geo Shelton was born abt 1854.
Looks like he may have married the elder Nannie Mims?

Although,in the 1880 census, Nannie Mims, age 18 b KY is lsited as sister to Thomas Mims..I don't find a Thomas amongst the John W Mims Jr's children. Quite confusing to me. Any assistance appreciated.
