Don't know if your interested or not, but I found the following on James in The Elyria Republican Newspaper from Elyria, Ohio 14 Feb 1900, pg 1:
A One-Legged Lineman. The Central Union Telephone Co. has in its employ, as lineman, a young man by the name of James Sandoe, of Medina, who deserves great credit for overcoming what would naturally be supposed to be a barrier to such a calling. The young man has but one leg, yet he climbs the highest telephone poles with an agility not possessed by many more fortunately endowed. When he was twelve years of age he met with an accident which made the amputation of his leg necessary. As he grew to young manhood, he took a great interest in electricity and especially in the workings of the telephone, and decided to become proficient in that work to the end that he might secure an inspectorship. He realized that the only way to reach the top was to commence at the bottom and climb up, and this he is doing theoretically and practically. There is little about the business he has not mastered and Manager Allen says he is one of the best men he ever had in his employ. Such perseverance deserves success.
Do you know when he and Mary got married? Did they have any children together?
