St. Charles (Kane County, Illinois) Chronicle, July 3, 1968. Ira Minard, 94, Dies; Member Pioneer Family. Ira Minard, 94, whose family was identified with the settlement of St. Charles during the 1930's, passed away on Saturday after an extended illness. He was living at the Bowes Nursing Home in Elgin at the time of his death.
Born in St. Charles on February 14, 1874, Mr. Minard had lived in the Fox Valley area during his lifetime. During the past eight years, he has made his home with a stepson, Robert K. Minard in Evanston
Mr. Minard was the son of George and Lizzie Ward Minard and was named after his grandfather, Ira Minard, who was one of the founders of St. Charles and who was also a state senator from this area. He was employed by the Peoria Malleable Casting Company of Peoria as a district manager until 12 years ago.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Clara Ferson Minard of Evanston, who was also a member of one of the pioneer families of St. Charles; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Trude of Hollywood, Florida; three step children, Mrs. Mary Remer Fuller of Elgin, Mrs. Jane Remer Misewicz of Joliet and Robert K. Minard of Evanston.
Cremation took place at the Elm Law Cemetery on Monday.
A memorial service will be held at 11 p.m on Friday at the River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia. Funeral arrangements were made by the Reber Mortuary Service of Elgin. (Posted as a courtesy. Not related.)
