In a book entitled
Alabama Marriage and Death Notices1819 - 1890976.1 V2m
I found the following information.This is all I have come up with so far.Let me know if you have since found more information.
Jacob Minshew Sr.died May 1842, born ca. 1770/80
Sarah (Holmes) Minshew his wife died after 1848.
Their children were:John M, Feriba, Jacob, Wineford,
Nicey, and Isaac
I descend from his brother Nathan.I also found a will of their father Nathan M. Minshew in North Carolina.It listed all his children.Below is a transcription of it.
Let me know if you have found out anything.
Nathan Minshew - Will recorded 6 Aug 1818
This may certify to all persons to whom it may concern that at my deceas all my children should fair Equally alike in a division of my estate which is my Reason for leaving this instrument of writing mentioning what each child had heretofore
Elizabeth Holmes my oldest child has had two cows and colves one feather bed and furniture
Abigail Nazary has had two cows and calves one feather bed and furniture
Isabel Brackston has had two cows and calves one feather bed and furniture
Lucy(?) Holmes has had two cows and calves one feather bed and furniture one riding mare and four hundred and ten dollars in money.
Patsey Beal has had two cows and calves one feather bed and furniture one wriding mare and four hundred and ten dollars in money
Patience Fourhand has had two cows and calves one feather bed and furniture
Sally Edwards has had two cows and calves one feather bed and furniture one mare bridle and saddle and one Negrow gir.
Jacob Minshew my oldest son has had two cows and calves one feather bed and furniture and two Hundred and twenty Acres of land
Nathan Minshew has had two cows and calves and one feather bed and furniture and one Hundred Twenty Acres of Land.
Bryan Minshew has had two cows and calves one feather bed and furniture and four Hundred Acres of Land
Philip Minshew has had one feather bed and furniture two cows and calves one Negrow boy and one Hundred Dollars in money
The above instrument of writing this day 16th April 1818 made in the presents of Grad(??)y Herring

State of North Carolina Wayne County - August Court 1818 Excecuted for probate the last Will and Testament of Nathan Minshew duly proved in open Court by the oath of G. Herring a subscribing Witnes to the same, no person came forward to be qualified as executor when the Court ordered that Gradly(?) Herring be appointed to said Estate with the Will unexed(?) thereto.signed by (?) Hooks C(?)
