My name is Alfred GUILLON from Bertrange/Luxembourg/EU and my mother-in-law was Catherine MIRKES of Differdange/Luxembourg. One of her forefathers was also named Paul MIR(C)KES (+05.07.1807) and was married to Anna-Maria THEI(Y)S of Sinspelt. The origin of the MIRKES is the "Eifel country" in Germany, neighbour of tiny Luxembourg. The names of several hundred MIRKES are registered and are in the hands of Agnes COLLING, "Diplomierte Sozial-Pädagogin" whose address is: Agnes & Egon COLLING, in Büschel 7, D-54675 UTSCHEID/Germany. She also has MIRKES forefathers. In 1994 there was a 1st International MIRKES-meeting in Körperich/Bitburg/Germany, where more than 300 people had gathered (from Germany, Luxembourg, Holland, Belgium and the USA). I do not know if you were there, but your family is also named, as well as the family of my mother-in-law, in the booklet "Die Vorfahren der Eifeler MIRKES und ihre Nachkommen" written by Agnes COLLING and Adolf MIRKES and edited in 1996. During this 1st International MIRKES-meeting it was said that the next meeting (may be in 2004) would be organised by the Luxembourg-branch of the MIRKES family.
