Hi Naomi,
I haven't tracked down original sources yet, but from what I've read by other researches, the main connection was in the stories of William Prince.Since he came from a very wealthy prominent family of NC/SC he does get some mention in historical books.I know that the relationship between Prince and Mitchusson is mentioned by Glenn Martin in his book about the Martin-Mitchusson family, "Satan's Ferryman" by W.D. Snively, and I believe a book called,
"Along the Warioto: A History of Montgomery Co., TN" by Ursula Smith Beach, and finally,"History of Tennessee, Nashville," The Goodspeed Publishing Co., 1886.The other books were published in the 1960's.
They all seem to mention both William's as being brother-in-laws, with the connection being their wives.Elizabeth was given a sizable estate by her father John Ford, which should be in probate records, but I have not yet tried to obtain any copies.
Satan's Ferryman is by far the best account of what post revolutionary war America was like in the frontiers of TN and KY around the turn of the 19th century. It is good to round out your facts with stories about how people lived.Dr Showalter has a pretty good timeline set up for the Mitchussons. Most of the information that is know is in that line.
