David V. Scott was born in New Brunswick/Maine abt 1845 (parents were Thomas and Ann SCOTT). He moved with his parents to Princeton, IL in 1854 and then on to Brooklyn, Poweshiek Co., IA in 1865.
We know David married sometime after 1870 census (he was listed as single living with his parents in Madison twp, Poweshiek Co, IA) because of a picture we have of him with his wife. (The picture is labeled Mr & Mrs. David Scott, we don't know her name, but no marriage license was issued in Poweshiek Co, IA for the couple.) Per his father's will in April 1890, David was living in Thompson, MN. (We don't know if this was the name of a town or a township.)
David was one of eight children. His siblings were:
John (who married Rachel Catherine JORDAN, living in Traer, Tama Co., IA in 1888)
Emeline (who married Jeremiah DEE, my gr-gr-grandparents, buried in Poweshiek Co., IA)
Thomas W. (who married Lydia HOOVER, buried in Audubon Co., IA)
Silas V. (who married, name unknown, lived in Ayr, Adams Co, NE, believed buried there)
William Z. (who married Francis "Annie" DECKER, and died in Estline, SD in 1902)
Ida Susan(who married J. H. YENNIE, living in Hiawatha, Kansas in 1888)
Sarah A. (who married Frank JEWELL, buried in Poweshiek Co., IA).
