Looking for descendants of the children of Ramsey Smith Sr.(b. Michigan,1868-1941) & Theresa Saxton Smith (1871-1918)
They married in 1889 - Cloquet/Carlton/MN
My information is from Theresa's obit and the 1920 census-
The children were;
Clara 28 in 1920 - b. 1892
Peter 26 b. 1894
William 24 b. 1896
Ida M. 22 b. 1898
Ramsey A. Jr. 18 b. 1902
Myrtle 16 b. 1904
Raymond L. 15 b. 1905
Edgar L. 12 b. 1908
Leo M. 8 b. 1912
In the 1931 Cloquet City Directory;
Clara Smith was a nurse at Fond du Lac Indian Hospital
Ida M. Smith was a cook at Fond du Lac Indian Hospital
Edgar Smith was a patrolman, Minn. Hwy. Dept.
Raymond L. Smith was a patrolman, Minn. Hwy Dept.
all 4 lived with Ramsey Smith (their father)
also there are 2 others living with Ramsey Smith;
Mrs. Edna J. Smith -stenographer
Frances M. Smith
Ramsey Smith Sr. was ½ Ojibway Indian (from the 1920 census)
Clara & Ida Smith were good friends with Rose & Sadie Brunner, they all lived on the same road - across the street from Fond du Lac Indian Reservation/Hospital. Clara was a witness at Rose's wedding, Ida was a witness at Sadie's wedding. Sadie Brunner is my gr-grandmother.
My interest in this Smith family is that Sadie's oldest daughter, my grandmother, is a "father unknown" baby. From what little my gr-grandmother Sadie eventually told, it is quite likely that one of the Smith boys was my grandmother's father. I would very much like to share information with any descendants of Ramsey Smith Sr.
