Hi all,
Gust Mattson is my Great Grandfather and I am searching for his mother. Gust's father is Gustaf Mikkola Mattson (1860-after 1937) who came to America from Finland during the 1880's. (Gust was born in Michigan August 1889.) Gustaf bought land in Keweenaw County, MI in 1907 (for the record, I'm waiting for the files from NARA) and sometime before Oct 1913 (my Grandfathers' birthdate) they moved to Crow Wing Co., MN. They then moved to Carlton Co., around Kettle River. Gustaf and his unknown wife had 5 children: Gust, John, Saima (m. to Swan Kallio), Ed and Mini. (Mini is thought to have married and lived in Virginia, MN.) Gustaf had a brother, John Rengo, who lived in Carlton Co., also. John Rengo had 12 children: Mathias, Jasko Einar (Einard), Matt, Hjalmer, Anna Maria, Elizabeth, Gust Arthur, unknown male, Susanna, Charles William, Ina and Edward.
