Passing along some information on the Minnesota State Historical Society's Research Services, on obits, etc. ================== IN-DEPTH SEARCH What is an In-Depth Search? Questions that involve more complex research, in more sources or in non-indexed sources, or with more analysis required in the answer. Examples would be questions like "Can you provide me with production statistics for the American Crystal Sugar Company for the years 1930 - 1940?" or "Is there a map of the Grand Forks railroad yard within the railroad records?" "Will you do an obit lookup on your microfilmed newpaper collection?" These requests often include analysis and interpretation of the materials describing the sources in addition to locating the desired answers. The fee for this service is: $11.00 per half hour for MHS members $12.00 per half hour for Minnesota residents $15.00 per half hour for non-Minnesota residents * If Your request falls into the "In-Depth Research" category. Please click on the appropriate link to a downloadable request form. * In-Depth Request Form http://www.mnhs.org/library/about/e8.html * Minnesota State Censuses Note: The state censuses of 1865, 1875, 1885, 1895, 1905, and the 1910 and 1930 Federal Censuses also require an in-depth search, because there are no indexes for these censuses. * City / Telephone Directory Listing Pre-payment is required for all searches. The search fee includes up to five standard-sized copies. Additional copies will be charged separately. LINKS TO OTHER SERVICES * MHS Library: See the Minnesota Historical Society Library web page for more information about classes offered at the Library or to search the catalogs. * Minnesota Death Certificate Index (1908 - 1966): The Minnesota Historical Society hosts an online index of death certificates to improve access to this popular resource. The cost per copy of each uncertified death certificate is $8.00, if you have searched the Index yourself and have provided the certificate ID number. * Interlibrary Loan: The Minnesota Historical Society participates in Interlibrary Loan on a very limited basis, as the Library is a special collection rather than a circulating library. Most books, all un-filmed manuscripts and State Archives resources, and all audio-visual materials in the MHS Library are non-circulating. Most microfilmed materials are available for library-to-library borrowing through Interlibrary Loan. Photocopy requests for specific pages or articles may also be sent through Interlibrary Loan. Our Librarians are always ready to assist on-site researchers. There is no charge for written, email, or telephone requests that can be answered quickly, using readily available sources. **If you are unable to use any of these links, please go to http://www.mnhs.org/library/about/email.html Notify Administrator about this message?
