Cass Veterans Memorial was Sons of American Legion project

HACKENSACK, MN
Sixty-three Cass County servicemen killed in action were honored Wednesday at a memorial ceremony in the Hackensack City Park, their names permanently etched into a large stone monument commemorating the fallen heroes.
The monument was a project of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 202 in Hackensack. Those Cass County servicemen, including those killed during World War I, World War II, Korean War and Vietnam, are:


World War II
Harold Bethel, Fred D. Olson, Robert Ross,
***Walter Smiglewski and Lyman Tanner, all of Walker; George Engelhart, Longville; Lloyd C. Luiten, Poplar Township; Wallace A. Skaar, Ansel Township; and Theodore Q. Svendsen, Leader.
