Hi. So sorry for the delay in my response, but have not checked this message board for some time. Unfortunatley I do not bring good news as my grandfather, Frederick August Reed, his name was changed when his mother remarried in Chisago County to a Mr. Friederich Drews... so now our name is Drews. Who knows, perhaps Drews was a friend of the Reed family. I have no idea how my great grandmother and Drews met. In those days all I am sure of is that she was a widow at a young age with a newborn and with no welfare system as we know it she simply had to remarry to survive... or I suspect that's the case. Very interesting that your people are of the same naming convention... August Reed. I would be very happy to provide any other information should I acquire any. But my situation is similar to yours in that I continue to hit a brick wall. Thank you.
