Seeking information on Ole Tonning who emigrated from Stavanger, Norway, with his family to Decorah, Iowa, in 1884. He was educated at Luther College, received his Ph.D. in History from the University of Minnesota in 1935. He taught and coached basketball at Corcordia College in the 1910s. He later taught and was chairman of the Department of History at Augustana College in Sioux Falls. He died April 10, 1955, or 1956, in Sioux Falls. He married Eveline Anderson of Houston, MN, in 1914. His father Peter Christian Tonning (1837-March 6, 1915), died in Clay County. I would love to have obituaries and other information about both.
