Rene Eugene Scheffer, a man who married into my Mohr family, was born in Ramsey Co., MN. In 1895 he was working in Twp. 43 in Crow Wing Co. In 1900 he was living with the EDWARD family. The index spelled the name Ihibade which didn't look right, and his wife, Eliza R. Rene was a nephew and I believe Eliza's which would mean her maiden name was PLANTE. Rene was born in MN, but his parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts were born in French Canada.
Rene joined the army shortly after the 1900 census, serving in the Spanish American War and in 1910 was in the Philippines.
What I'm looking for is some evidence of the EDWARD family
and the PLANTE family. I lose the Plants after 1880 and the EDWARDs after 1900.

I see there is a book on obituaries collected in Crow Wing. If anyone has access to this, perhaps the three surnames could be checked. SCHEFFER, EDWARD, PLANTE.
