There may be no connection between our families, but it doesn't hurt to compare notes. My ggrandmother Clara Mueller was born in New Ulm, Brown County, MN and married Herman Von Essen there in 1880. They lived out the rest of their lives in the city of Le Sueur where Herman had a cigar shop. I have no idea why they chose to make their lives in Le Sueur. Parents of Clara are Matthias Mueller and Mary Brunner married in 1864 at Mankato. Matthias was also referred to as Mathew. I know little about Matthias Mueller except that he was reportedly born in 1835 at Erlen an der Mosel, Prussia. He was a plasterer by trade and participated in the defense of New Ulm in 1862. He died in 1913 in New Ulm. I've not been able to go further back on my Mueller family and I don't know if he had other relatives in Minnesota, or elswhere in the US for that matter.
