Could someone look up my gr-grandfather's marriage record, please? John Nicolaus Hertha (b. 1836) and Mary Augusta Meinhardt (b. 1846) were married in 1862 in St. Paul, MN. John fought in Civil War in 1861 and was discharged due to sickness in July 1861. John was wounded at Battle of Birch Coulee, fighting the Sioux Indians, on 2 Sep 1862, and was looking for work in IA in winter of 1862. John's natural father's surname is Schilling. However, records indicate John started using his stepfather's surname of Hertha during the Civil War. Thank you SO MUCH!
