PLANTE--SCHEFFER

On the 1880 federal census for White Bear, Ramsey Co., MN, 2 year old Rene SCHEFFER lived as a border with the Joseph PLANTE family. Rene was born in MN, I assume Ramsey Co., but the Plantes were all born in French Canada, as were Rene's parents.
It's possible the Plantes were grandparents.
On the 1900 federal census Rene E. lived in Crow Wing Co., MN with the Tiobald Edward family as nephew.
On the 1910 census, Rene E. was in the army in the Torrey Barracks, Mindanao, Philippines.
He has not been found since.

The Plantes were not found in 1900 and may have gone back to Canada or moved to another area. I wasn't able to identify the Edward family after 1900.

If anyone can help me with birth records for this man, it would be a great help. I think he is the son of the man who later married into my family in Des Moines, Rene Eugene Scheffer, died 1917.
