I am in search of Amanda Leggett/Shuster. Amanda Leggett was married to my g/father John Shuster. She was born in about 1870. She and John Shuster married in Van Buren County, Iowa on July 19th, 1888. They lived and started a family in Vernon, Iowa --Van Buren County. She developed a relationship with a Benjamin Gillespie, thus John and she were divorced in 1909. The father, John and g/father Isaac, and g/mother Sarah raised the 5 children, one of which, William Allen "Al" Shuster was my father. We do not know if Amanda married the Benjamin Gillespie or not, but we do understand that she remarried, lived and died in the 1940's in the Tampa, Florida area. Amanda Leggett's father was a Methodist minister. We believe Amanda's mother's name was Maria Custer Leggett. When Amanda was born the parents were living somewhere in Illinois. It seems that the father James Leggett and wife and/or some of the family lived in Clark County Missouri, perhaps in the Alexandria/Kohoka area. It is quite possible that she, Amanda may have had more children later as she was only in her late 30's or early 40's when they divorced. If I could find the obit of either the father James, or the mother Maria perhaps it would list the married name and location of Amanda. John and Amanda were both an only child, thus limiting the number of relatives out there.
